We are proud to have donated through the generous support of our Eastland community and through the donation of products to the value of over $120,000.
The Alannah & Madeline Foundation uphold the rights of children and young people to be safe.
On 28 April 1996, Alannah and Madeline Mikac, aged six and three, were tragically killed alongside their mother and 32 other people at Port Arthur in Tasmania.
From tragedy, vision. From tragedy, hope. From tragedy, strength.
One year later, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation was launched in the girls’ honour by their father, Walter Mika AM and a small group of volunteers. They were driven by the belief that all children and young people should be able to live a happy and safe life, free from violence and trauma.
Today their mission continues through care, prevention and advocacy – from supporting children experiencing family violence to online bullying and fighting for the rights of young people everywhere. After 25 years, the fight continues.
They fight for their right to be safe, so their future is strong.
By attending our school holiday program activations and donating, you can help us continue to support the incredible work of the Alannah & Madeline Foundation.
