Hospitals can be overwhelming and scary for kids. Fear and anxiety during medical procedures can worsen outcomes, especially for neurodivergent children. Your donation to Emma-Rose's Mountain to Melbourne fundraiser helps provide essential tools and resources that make hospital visits less intimidating, ensuring every child gets the care and support they deserve.
Why your support matters
- Local kids need better care
Eastern Health hospitals cared for over 36,000 kids last year, but funding is lacking compared to major hospitals like the Royal Children’s.
- Local hospitals need essential resources
Without adequate funding, they can’t provide necessary tools to reduce pain and anxiety for children.
- Anxiety worsens medical outcomes
Anxious children experience more pain, longer recovery, and poorer results, especially during procedures like anesthesia induction.
Who is Emma-Rose?
A Mum to two beautiful boys and a psychologist who works with children and teens and sees the clinical implications of anxiety and fear. Emma-Rose knows how terrifying it can be for kids to be in the hospital; it is unknown and scary, bright and smells strange. It’s a sensory, emotional and physical combo.
“Our local kids deserve the best care we can give them. I’m beyond proud to be part of a community like ours.” - Emma-Rose
In 2025, Emma-Rose will run just over 100km from Healesville Hospital to Town Square Eastland, passing through The Angliss, Maroondah and Box Hill Hospitals along the way. By sponsoring this 12-hour challenge, you're helping Eastern Health provide essential resources that reduce anxiety and improve care for local children.
Every dollar counts. Please support Mountain to Melbourne today!
